Thompson Fabrication, a steel fabrication and manufacturing shop, is seeking a motivated individual to fill a Mechanical Draftsman job opening. Thompson Fabricating has been working in the waste industry, providing high quality containers and outstanding customer service, for over 30 years.
This position is responsible for creating, developing, and designing blueprints for containers prior to production, consulting with the customer, when appropriate, to ensure that the plans fit the customer’s needs.
Responsibilities
- Take given specifications and draft accurate, attractive drawings in SolidWorks
- Creating new & modifying existing CNC programs/nests by importing parts created in SolidWorks to OmniWin
- Work closely with other members team as well as customers to verify accuracy and details
- Follow all company guidelines for best practices
- Track all time spent on projects accurately
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of drafting experience or education
- Prior SolidWorks and OmniWin experience strongly preferred
- AutoCAD, Inventor, BobCAD, SigmaNest experience is a plus
- Prior understanding of structural, sheet, and plate steel sizes will be helpful
- Experience in the waste industry with an understanding of trucks and roll-off equipment is a plus
- Experience in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating outstanding organization, attention to detail, and planning abilities
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and QuickBooks
